The Planet Express Crew are Back

Fry, Bender and Lella will be returning to our screens on Comedy Central for a 9th Season. The show will premier on Wednesday June 20 at 10/10:30 PM ET/PT.

Split in 2

Season 9 will be split into 2 halves:

The first half of Season 9 will consist of 13 episodes and be known as Season 7A in production terms. The Second half of Season 9 will actually be Season 10 in broadcasting terms and will be known as season 7B in production terms, this will also feature 13 episodes.

Season 9 In Layman’s Terms

All pretty overcomplicated, so in a nut-shell all you need to know is that come June 20th 2012 you’ll have 13 episodes and then a further 13 episodes in 2013 to watch some magnificent Futurama.

Season 7 Episode 1 “The Bots and the Bees”

The premier episode is likely to be “The Bots and the Bees” where the Planet Express gets a new soda machine and Bender impregnates it. This will be followed by Episode 2 called ‘”A Farewell to Arms”

Futurama is the brain child of Simpsons creator Matt Groening and David X Cohen. The show centres on the adventures of a pizza boy named Phillip J. Fry, who accidentally sets off an accident that gets him cryogenically frozen on New Years Eve of 1999, only to be thawed in the year 3000.

Emmy Awards

Futurama has two Emmy-awards under its belt: Outstanding Animated Program and Outstanding Voice-Over Performance for Maurice LaMarche.
